Rockin' at the Gorge!!!

Well the concert was a huge success in my humble opinion. Our seats weren't the greatest ever, we were left of the stage and there were some columns in the way of a clear view, but I could see all the members of Rush fairly well without the binoculars, even better with them. Watched Neil Peart twirling his drum sticks...and was utterly amazed when he hit a button, stood up, and his drum set turned clear around. Basically he has two drum sets put together, he just turns the set to the front that he needs for particular music. Wow....
I don't know much of their music, I'm really a fan of the drummer...but I was totally blown away by the fact that these guys have been playing music together since sometime in the early 70's (at least that's when they hit the big time)...so they're in their late 50's all of them, and they can perform for over 3 hours and only take a couple short breaks in there. No other group performs with them, just the three of them, with some hangers-on to hand freshly tuned guitars and bases to the players. What a great job that would be huh? The paid guitar tuner and handler.
The 20,000 or so people that were there were well behaved from my vantage point, the worst thing I saw was a couple punk kids throwing their water bottles at others in the crowd. Also saw a couple people smoking pot, but oh what the heck, it was after all, a rock concert. Saw some guy peeing on a car tire, hoping it was his car. Leaving the concert arena for the parking area, the entire group is walking up a hill - this is my 5th time to the Gorge, and always someone starts a moo-ing movement as the crowd is walking out. Kinda funny to hear couple hundred people mooing. Then there's a big cheer when the parking area comes into site, it's maybe a 1/2 mile walk from the parking area to the concert arena.
Otherwise, the video show was great and the lazer show was pretty great too. The Gorge was VERY windy, but the rain held off till the show was over and we were on our way home. This place - the Gorge at George - has an excellent method for getting 20,000 people out of a small area with very little trouble. It took us about 45 minutes to get to the concert, and just over an hour to get home. My ears are still ringing, and I've still got this stupid smile on my face!!!
